Leaving on a Jet Plane

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind.   We got a referral a month ago and received a court date a week ago.  Today, we got news that our court date got moved UP.  We are so excited and thankful that all the details in changing flights and getting Story to family have worked out.   So now we leave MONDAY-as in TOMORROW!  We cannot wait to get to Ethiopia and meet our son and hold him and love on him!  Oh happy day!  My heart is a little sad to leave Story behind, but I know she will be in good hands and love making memories with our families.

This is one Thanksgiving season I will never forget.  I have spent 2 ½ years praying for this day to come and it’s still so surreal to me that it is finally happening!  We are so thankful for this gift of life in a son that God has hand chosen for our family.  We are so thankful for our extended family serving us and loving on Story while we go love on Haven.  We are so thankful to so many of you who have helped us along the way.  I tear up each time I think about how the body of Christ has been shown to me through your monetary gifts, prayers for our family, and donations.  Donations of time, donations for fundraisers over the past 2 years, donations of gear and clothes for Haven, donations of a listening ear throughout the ups and downs of adoption, donations to take to the orphanage.   It’s overwhelming for sure!  What a blessing you all are!  We are thankful that you have chosen to be a part of this journey with us.  We are filled with gratitude for the community of friends and family that God has placed in our lives.  This is for sure one season I will never forget reflecting on all the Lord has done.  We love because HE first loved us.  Our hearts are overflowing with thanksgiving!

Please continue to be in prayer for us over the next week.  Pray for little and big details:  safe flights, luggage to arrive, health for us, that we pass court, Haven as we meet him and then have to leave him, Story as she stays with family, and anything else that comes to mind.  We covet your prayers so!  We know God is in control and goes before us.  We are excited and emotional!  (We will have little internet access while there, so we will do quick updates through facebook or twitter.  We plan to update the blog with all the details of our trip once we return.)
