It’s Been Awhile

I know it’s been a while!  So sorry about that!  We’ve had a lot going on.  In March, I fell down some stairs and really messed up my knee.  Two surgeries and 3 months of physical therapy later and I finally feel like I’m on the road to recovery.  Our priority was getting me out of school.  Then our priority became getting me back to normal!  I hope I will be there in the next month or so.  I am now a stay-at-home mom and must get my strength and energy back so I can keep up with our precious, energetic 2 year old.  I am really looking forward to pouring my life and time into Story.

AND, now we can get back to our priority being getting Haven home.  As we’ve celebrated Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, Chris and I have an even greater sense of urgency to make this adoption happen.  We feel called to be parents to the parentless and we long to add to our family through the beautiful picture of adoption as our pastor said “Not to be rescuers, but because we were rescued”.

We are finishing up some of our last bits of paperwork.  Next week we have a meeting with Lifeline to further discuss the Uganda program.  As difficult as it was to change programs after feeling so called to Ethiopia, we are confident and excited about finding Haven in Uganda.  The truth is, a year ago when we first started really pursuing and praying about “where” we had our choices narrowed down to Uganda and Ethiopia.  Chris really felt led to Uganda because he had traveled there and fallen in love with the people.  After speaking with several social workers, we were encouraged to lean towards Ethiopia for our family.  This was mostly because to adopt from Uganda you must be in country for 4-6 weeks.   This didn’t seem possible with us having Story.  Ethiopia requires two 7-10 day trips.  Now we’re thinking we might just take Story with us, and even though she may not remember much, allow her to be a part of this adoption journey with us.

We are so excited and look forward to learning more about the program next week.  We’ll keep you all posted and I promise (now that I have more time on my hands) to update our blog more often.  Thank you so much for reading!  We covet your prayers and appreciate you walking this long road with us.
